Oulu/Lapland, Finland

This study is a collaborative project between researchers at the Toronto Trans-generational Brain and Body Centre (Drs. Paus and Pausova) and the University of Oulu in Finland. The aim of this project is to investigate the early origins of addiction by investigating the effects of prenatal exposure to maternal cigarette smoking on addictive behaviour among adolescents and their parents. The populations under investigation will be the families of the Saguenay Youth Study in Quebec, Canada and the Northern Finland Birth Cohort in the provinces of Oulu and Lapland, Finland.
